The Great Kohl's Cash Conundrum

I have a confession: I am terrible at keeping track of Kohl's Cash. Those little paper vouchers mock me from my purse, destined to expire before I remember to use them. Just last week, I discovered $30 in Kohl's Cash that had expired two days earlier. Two. Days.

As a financial advisor, you might think I'd be better at managing these retail rewards. But between running a business, raising two kids, and trying to maintain some semblance of work-life balance, those paper promises of future savings often slip through the cracks.

Here's Where Financial Advisors are a lot Like You

This got me thinking about why we sometimes insist on managing complex financial decisions ourselves when we're already stretched thin. We tell ourselves "I should be able to handle this" or "I'll get to it eventually." But just like those expired Kohl's Cash vouchers, procrastination can cost us.

The truth is, delegating important financial decisions isn't about capability – it's about bandwidth and expertise. Just as I happily outsource my lawn care (despite being perfectly capable of pushing a mower), many successful people choose to partner with a financial advisor not because they can't manage their money, but because they recognize the value of their time and the importance of professional expertise.

Think About It

While I'm wrestling with expired Kohl's Cash and feeling guilty about the $30 I lost, my clients are confidently pursuing their dreams, knowing their investment strategy is being actively managed by someone who lives and breathes this stuff every day.

So the next time you find yourself stressing over complex financial decisions or letting important money moves slide to the bottom of your to-do list, remember my Kohl's Cash confession. Sometimes the smartest financial decision you can make is choosing to let someone else handle the details while you focus on what truly matters in your life.

After all, true wealth isn't about keeping track of every discount – it's about having the freedom to spend your time and energy on what brings you joy.

Live a wealthy life, my friends.
